Welcome to the NEW home of Insectoid's Web Page!! This site would
update more often, but I have to request each mirror, so it can go months or
years before I have enough changes to merit one. Now that I have
SSI and JavaScript implemented, I can
have the site mirrored on a schedule without having to manually change
timestamps.

Apologies to everyone for another lengthy delay; I've had a
lot on my mind, and until recently only occasionally put any work into the
site. Now I'm working full-steam to tidy (in my own way, not with
tidy) and pretty the site up, so this will be another big update.
The site is still being CSS'd, and among the other subtle changes are
newer graphics, and the complete banishment of frame pages in favor of CSS'd
"virtual framesets", as I call them. When I get around to
completing my study of JavaScript, I may add some dynamic page effects here and
there.
Feel free to peruse the Status/To Do page; it lists every page on the site,
and the relative completeness of each, as well as the modification date of each
(implemented with SSI). Those pages that need the most work (like Jazz,
the Nintendo guides, and the DOS and C64 sections) will most likely get worked
on AFTER the re-coding of the site is complete. (Will there ever be an
end to re-coding? Who knows.)
Questions or comments about the site or its contents may be
directed to insectoid (at) budwin (dot) net.
I do appreciate the feedback, folks, both good and bad. However,
any spam mail will be subject to immediate de-resolution!
- XPilot – For those of you
who have never heard of XPilot, it's a cool 2-D multiplayer network
game originally for the X Window System, combining concepts from
Atari's arcade games Asteroids and Gravitar, and the
Commodore 64 game Thrust. It was originally developed in
1991 on UNIX, but now works on not only UNIX and Linux distributions,
but also has ports to Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and even Apple
mobile devices.
- Nintendo Game Guides –
I decided to put the game guides up, even though not all of them are
finished. This includes my three work-in-progress HTML guides
and my many Word-format guides and checklists.
- DOS Games – Pages dedicated to a
few DOS games, including Captain Comic and Invasion of the
Mutant Space Bats of Doom. On the drawing board for now.
Featured games:
- Descent –
Descent is a classic 360°, 3-D first-person
shooter for DOS from Parallax Software and Interplay
Productions, released in 1995, that also spawned two sequels,
Descent II in 1996 and Descent3 in
1999. Completely redesigned, this section contains level,
robot, and item guides for the first Descent game, as
well as release data and availability info for all three games.
- Jazz Jackrabbit –
Jazz Jackrabbit is a classic action shooter from 1994
by Epic MegaGames
(better known nowadays as Epic Games, makers of Unreal
Tournament). Contains episode, weapon, item, and object
guides.
- Commodore 64 Page – Also new on
the drawing board. It's all about my experiences with the
Commodore 64 personal computer—games, hardware, software, BASIC
programs, and the like. But it's mostly about my favorite C64 games.
(Gosh, what a surprise!)
